Making the Best of a Bad Decision

Making the Best of a Bad Decision: How to Put Your Regrets behind You, Embrace Grace, and Move toward a Better Future

How to put your regrets behind you, embrace grace, and move toward a better future

"...the bottom line:  Knowing God's will is all about knowing God Himself,
with faith that He will lead us."

Have you...chosen second best?  crossed a moral boundary?  made a bad financial decision?  hurt others?  In this book Erwin Lutzer addresses some of these issues and discusses that with God you do not suffer today because of something you did wrong in a previous life. There is not "karma" with God.  God gives forgiveness, mercy and right standing freely to anyone who believes and asks.  This is a book about hope.  God IS bigger than any human foolishness.  Personally, I find it much easier to beat myself up over failure than to receive the greatness of God's love and forgiveness.  As I was reading I was reminded of  Psalm 103:13-14 (NIV)
 13 As a father has compassion on his children,
   so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
   he remembers that we are dust.
God has compassion on those who fear Him.  Speak truth to yourself.  God knows we are dirt.  (even mud).  Don't fear the mess you have made...you are not that amazing or powerful.  Instead fear God.  I hear that He specializes in making the worst messes clean and beautiful.  The truth is that sometimes God even uses other human beings as instruments of his love and grace in the "make-over" process.   Lutzer's final chapter is titled "The Worst Decision You Could Possibly Make".

"There is more grace in God's heart than there is sin in your past."

I received this book from Tyndale for the purpose of this review

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Don't neglect the eternal life God offers.  It is a gift! receive it.  Open the Word. God will give you the faith you need to go through this life and one day when your body goes back to the dust, your soul will live forever with Him.
