bless the bread

she said..."I'll pray!...God is great God is good..."
sister said, "that is not real praying. it is just repeating stuff".

did you know, often we "bless" the food (to our body).
Does the Bible teach us to "bless" food?
in the Last Supper
Jesus took the bread
and
"blessed"
it.

..."oh, yeah"...
"Mommy, but the bread was his body!"

Jesus was blessing God.
when we pray
we SHOULD bless
GOD!
He IS the bread.
Enough for today.

Text: William Williams, 1717-1791; trans. from the Welsh by Peter Williams and the author
Music: John Hughes, 1873-1932

GUIDE ME, O thou great Jehovah,
Great Redeemer,
pilgrim through this barren land.
I am weak, but thou art mighty;
hold me with thy powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,
feed me till I want no more;
feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
whence the healing stream doth flow;
let the fire and cloudy pillar
lead me all my journey through.
Strong deliverer, strong deliverer,
be thou still my strength and shield;
be thou still my strength and shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
bid my anxious fears subside;
death of death and hell's destruction,
land me safe on Canaan's side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to thee.
I will ever give to thee.

  1. I love the going's on between children! So adorable - and how wonderfully you turned it into a teachable moment. I am still working on that - taking the cuteness and turning it into teachable moments! Although, at our house every moment is teachable, as homeschoolers :)
    I found your blog through mine - your husband left a link on my blog, and I am so happy to have found it! I look forward to future posts.
