Shattered Dreams

"Shattered Dreams are never random.
They are always a piece in a larger puzzle,
a chapter in a larger story.
The Holy Spirit uses the pain of shattered dreams
to help us discover our desire for God,
to help us begin dreaming the highest dream."
Dr. Larry Crabb
Finding God was my introduction to author Dr. Larry Crabb.  In the 90's I heard him speak at some sort of men's conference that our psychology prof.  Dr. B. co-ersed us into attending.  Practical. Made a lasting impression even to sleep-depraved college students at a "men's" conference. ☺
Shattered Dreams takes a trip to the Old Testament to look at the life of Naomi.
3 characteristics of  Naomi's despair.
1.  "you are better off without me".
2.  "happiness is only a memory, never to be experienced again".
3.  "God did this..."
If you have "been" there, you will find "hope" (well, let me rephrase that to say...the God of hope) as you go through the 8 week workbook at the end of the book.  The discussion questions will help you to think about "broken" places and direct you to the ONE who IS the WORD of healing life.  Thank you Dr. Crabb for serving us well. For speaking the difficult truths and pointing us always to our ONE and only unchanging hope in Christ.

i received a copy of this book free from Waterbrook Press for reviewing purpose.

  1. Is this a book? How's Charis doing? Tell her to find out which time and let me know what day Grandparent day is and we will work it out to skype with her if that's OK with her teacher. We could do the same with Hannah for a show a tell or something if her teacher agrees.

    Love you all,

    Mom
