summer "science" ☺

Welcome to a little picture trail
through some of the fun books boredom "chasers"
we have been enjoying from New Leaf Press
If you are not familiar with the amazing creation teaching resources
published by New Leaf, I encourage and maybe even "beg" you
to check out their site.  We are not officially a "home-school" family. However, we strongly believe that all families "school" at home.  Be intentional about it ☺.  Kids are quick to pick up on enthusiasm about what God has made.

The Case of the Missing Mountain (Mystery Rangers)

The Case of the Missing Mountain by Kim Jones has been a big hit at our house ☺.  I would recommend this book for 6-10 year olds (in our case perfect for a 2nd grader).  With butterfly notebook in hand Hannah has been collecting clues in anticipation of solving the mystery...and learning interesting facts along the way...

fun experiments

This book closes talking about the warning God gave about the Flood.
"The Bible shows us that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God
is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
in DANGER of being forever separated from God!

Bombus the Bumblebee
Bombus the Bumblebee by Elsie Larson
Bombus is the story of a bumblebee who is confused about how God made him.  It just does not make sense to him that He was designed to fly, and with a little criticism from his peer "critters" he feels fat, ugly and different.  (enter teach moment to talk about feelings of peer pressure, being different, etc. ☺)
Did you know that "bombus" is the scientific name for bumblebee?

enjoy the fun creative activities
such as making fingerprint bees
and balloon bumblebees that help us understand
how bees actually do fly ☺
Included are creative suggestions
for coming up with a parent/child secret signal
to let child know that they are doing great.

some of our very own picked "blooms" that God created for us to enjoy!

Absotively, Posilutely, Best Evidence for Creation

AbsoTIVEly, PosiLUTEly Best Evidence for Creation by  Carl Kerby is a fun book that looks at the world through the world view "lens" of the Bible.
comparing the world's view to the Christian Biblical view
One of our favorite and amazing facts that we discoved in this book has to do with the large size of the giraffe's heart.  Have you ever had that light-headed, dizzy feeling after hanging upside down?  God special order designed the giraffe's heart extra big (can be up to 2.5 feet long and weigh up to 20 pounds) so it can pump the blood all the way up that tall neck.  He also made this big heart with one way valves so that they don't get "headaches" from bending over with those long necks!
By learning about the stars we realized that the heavens
truly do declare the GLORY of God!

I received a copy of these books for the purpose of review .
